Out of the major geopolitical regions in the country, that is, since the retrun of democractic selections of the leadership of Nigeria, South East has been severely marginalised and unfairly sidelined in relevant political appointments. Besides Alex ifechekwude Ekwueme, no southeasterner has made it to Aso Rock whether as the president or vice president. This has been tagged as an unfair treatment to a region that has contributed and still contributing immensely to the commercial and economic growth of the country. In the run up to this years primary election, especially in the All Progressive Peoples party, one would have surmised that either the flag bearer or the vice will emerge from the southeast region, however this has been floored again. The presidential aspirant of APC has not only picked his running mate, but he has also picked his vice, director general of his campaign Council and spokespersons along wirh top stakeholders that will be involved in the decision making processes that will try to sell Tinubu to Nigerians but none of all the persons involved is from the southeast which again painfully points to the clear fact that the southeasterners are completely marginalised in the party. There are many rumours and speculations that Christians are as well marginalised in the party however this is not the bone of contention here. As they say charity begins at home. If APC and Tinubu cannot run an all inclusive party organisation in the run up to the election then there is no doubt that he will carryon with the legacy of the current administration in sidelining the southeasterners in top political appointments and considerations of his administration. It will be wise for the people of the South East to look at interest and inclusivity in choosing who to support in the forthcoming presidential election.
